There are simple things you can do daily to help deter the onset of dementia, like keeping your mind active with crossword or other puzzles, or drinking green tea. Yet, did you know that the health of your teeth and gums can help predict dementia? Research conducted at the University of Southern California found that having periodontal disease before the age of 35 quadrupled the odds of dementia later in years. It has been found that older people with tooth and gum disease score lower on memory and cognition tests. Experts believe that the inflammation in the gums travels to the brain.  We want you to be around for a long time – so go ahead – floss those teeth!  If you have any dental questions, please call our office.
